Storia d'Italia dal 1815 ai giorni nostri (A Short History of Italy from 1815 to Today) was written by Prof Giovanni Di Sessa and was officially launched by the Consul of Italy in South Australia, Dr Tommaso Coniglio on Wednesday 11th June 2008 at the City of Campbelltown Function Centre.

The book is available to all Italian teachers/students and to the general public for purchase ($20.00 including GST plus postage and handling).

10 Years of Collaboration

St George College, in collaboration with the Italian Didactic Centre, celebrated 10 years of Italian Language teaching to students from Reception to Year 11. The ceremony was held at the Performing Arts and Sports Centre of St George College on Thursday 26th July 2007.

The celebrations started with the official welcome from the Chairman of the Board of Governors of St George College, Mr Basil Taliangis AM, C Flin Uni, JP. Guest speakers included the President and Principal of the Italian Didactic Centre, Prof Giovanni Di Sessa, the Consul of Italy in Adelaide, Dr Tommaso Coniglio. The closing speech was delivered by the Principal of St George College, Mr George Panagopoulos.

During the celebrations, entertainment included the performances of 'La canzone di Geppetto', 'Un bacio', 'La gallina Carolina' and 'Volare' sung by the students of St George College from Reception to Year 6. A group of Year 7 students recited the poem 'La speranza'. There was also the presentation of a DVD on the making of the 10 year celebrations.

In closing, morning tea was served in the foyer where guests were greeted by a group of secondary students  wearing Italian costumes. This area was decorated with fantastic students' artwork, giving credit to the Arts teacher in charge.
