To celebrate the Ninth Edition of Italian Language Week Worldwide the Italian Didactic Centre is launching a competition open to all South Australian schools on the theme of "Gli Italiani nel mondo dell'Arte, della Scienza e della Tecnologia". All teachers of Italian are invited to take part in this competition with their students.

Terms & Conditions

1.    Information on how to enter and prize details form part of the Condition of Entry.

2.    The Promoter is the Italian Didactic Centre of SA Inc (Centro Didattico), Australian Business Number: 84 282 830 629.

3.    Entry to this competition is free.

4.    Entry is limited to South Australian residents only.

5.    Entry is for current Registered Teachers with the Teachers Registration Board of South Australia and for Students studying Italian in Year 11 in South Australia. This is a competition of skill and chance plays no part in determining the winners.

6.    Entrants must have a valid, Teacher’s Registration with the Teachers Registration Board of South Australia or be a Student currently studying Italian in Year 11 at the time of judging to be eligible to win a prize.

7.    The Promoter reserves the right at anytime, to verify the validity of entries and Entrants (including an Entrant’s identity, age and place of residence) and to disqualify an Entrant who submits an entry that is not in accordance with these Terms and Conditions.

8.    All participants are requested to send their entries to the Promoter by mail or in person. They are also required not to write their names on their entries or place any other mark that may lead to their identification. Entries must be received by the Promoter by 5:00pm on 26/09/2008. Entries not received by this date or not completed in accordance with these conditions will not be eligible to win. No responsibility is accepted for late, lost or misdirected entries. Valid entries will be judged and the entries judged to be most creative will be selected as the winners. Judges’ decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.

9.    Winners will be notified by mail and prizes will be awarded on 25/10/2008. The valid entries judged to be the most creative will win. The prize includes: a Scholarship for an Italian Language and Culture Course at an Educational Institution in Italy, Return Economy Airfares to Italy, Course Fees and $500 towards accommodation during the Course. Other spending money, meals, transfers, insurance and other ancillary costs are the liability of the winners. The prize is not transferable, upgradeable or exchangeable and cannot be taken as cash. Prize is valid for travel from December 2008 to May 2009.

10.  The Promoter will not be liable for any loss or damage which is suffered (including but not limited to indirect or consequential loss) or for personal injury which is sustained as a result of taking any of the prizes, except for any liability which cannot be excluded by law.

11.  On return to Australia, the winners must provide the Promoter with a written evaluation on their experience in Italy and attend an interview at the Italian Didactic Centre of SA Inc.

12.  It is the responsibility of the winners to ensure that they are aware of any health requirements for their travel destinations and to ensure that they carry all necessary vaccination documentation.

13.  It is the responsibility of the winners to contact the airline prior to travel to ensure the scheduled departure time has not changed.

14.  If any prize (or any part of any prize) is unavailable the Promoter in its discretion reserves the right to substitute the prize (or that part of the prize) with a prize of equal value and or specification.

15.  In the event for any reason whatsoever the winners of the prize cannot or does not take the prize or an element of the prize, on the date/s stipulated by the Promoter, then that element of the prize will be forfeited by the prize winners. If for any reason this competition is not capable of running as planned for any causes beyond the control of the Promoter, the Promoter reserves the right in its sole discretion to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend this competition.

16.  It is the responsibility of the Entrant to ensure that they have valid passports, visas and re-entry permits which meet the requirements of immigration and other government authorities. Any fines, penalties, payments or expenditures incurred as a result of such documents not meeting the requirements of those authorities will be the winners’ responsibility. The Promoter does not warrant the accuracy of such information and accept no liability for any loss or damage, which the winners may suffer in reliance on it.

17.  All entries become the property of the Promoter who may use them for teaching purposes and/or future exhibitions.

18.  The Promoter collects Entrants’ personal information in order to conduct the competition. If the information requested is not provided, the Entrant may not participate in the competition. By entering the competition, unless otherwise advised, each Entrant consents to the information they submit with their entry being entered into a database and the Promoter and its related bodies corporate may use this information in any media for future promotional, marketing and publicity purposes without any further reference, payment or other compensation to the Entrant including sending the Entrant electronic messages. Promotion will be stored at the office of the Promoter.  

Students Awards Competition 2008

To celebrate the Eight Edition of Italian Language Week Worldwide the Italian Didactic Centre is launching a competition open to all South Australian schools on the theme of “The Italians in the Square”. All teachers of Italian are invited to take part in this competition with their students.

Terms & Conditions

1.    Information on how to enter this competition also forms part of the Terms and Conditions. Entry to this competition is free. Entry is open to all South Australian Schools with Students of Italian studying in year levels from Reception to Year 12.

2.    A judging panel will select the winners and the judges’ decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.

3.    All entries made by the Students must be in agreement with the Theme and Entry Requirements. Valid entries will be judged on their creativity and originality.

4.    It is the Italian Teachers’ responsibility to register the school’s interest by Friday 29th August 2008 with the Italian Didactic Centre of SA Inc and each Italian Teacher must register their class.

5.    The Italian Teachers are to collect all entries by the end of Term 3 2008, Friday 19th September 2008 and forward them to the Italian Didactic Centre of SA Inc, 10 Newton Road Campbelltown SA 5074 (last mail received on Friday 19th September 2008 or in person by close of business 5:00pm). Please ensure that all entries have the Student’s full name and year level somewhere visible on the Student’s work.

6.    All Students and Teachers will receive a Certificate of Participation. The final selected entries in each category will receive an Invitation to the Awards Ceremony and the winning prizes will be announced and distributed during the Awards Ceremony. All Competition correspondence, including Certificates of Participation and Invitations, will be via the Italian Teacher.

7.    If for any reason the Italian Didactic Centre of SA Inc determines in good faith and at its sole discretion that this promotion is not capable of running as planned or for any other causes beyond its control it reserves the right to cancel or amend this competition. The Italian Didactic Centre of SA Inc also accepts no responsibility for any variation in the prize value.

8.    All entries will remain the property of the Italian Didactic Centre of SA Inc who may use them for teaching purposes and/or future exhibitions.
