Rosso come il cielo
The Italian Didactic Centre will be showing the film “Rosso come il cielo” (Red Like the Sky) to Secondary & Adult Students of Italian & also the General Public.
The screening will include a presentation by Ms Antonella Maisa which will interact with the students. This is an exciting opportunity for students to practice their Italian with a mother tongue teacher.
This movie tells the story of Mirco a 10year old boy in love with cinema. Following an accident, he loses his sight. At the time,the Italian law did not allow blind children to attend public schools and his parents were forced to put him into a special institution. When Mirco finds an old tape recorder, he discovers that he is able to create little fairy tales made only of sounds. The conservative institution tries to stop him, but he continues his hobby, slowing involving all of the other blind children, helping them re-discover their potential and their dreams.

Forever Vespa
You are invited to join Vespa lovers on Monday 3rd August 2009 for a short ‘ride’ across the history of an Italian icon
The Italian Didactic Centre will be showing the documentary Forever Vespa to Secondary Students of Italian as part of this year’s 2009 Edition of the Italian Language Week Worldwide, “Gli Italiani nel mondo dell’arte, della scienza e della tecnologia”. The screening will be followed by a presentation by Ms Elisa Berno which will interact with the students. This is an exciting opportunity for Years 8-12 students to practice their Italian with a mother tongue teacher. Students will also have the opportunity to see and experience a real Vespa which will be on display.
This documentary tells the history of an Italian icon, the Vespa, since its conception post WWII. This charming and humorous account examines the vibrancy of European and Italian cultures of the last sixty years. Forever Vespa is a fresh and eye-opening feature that combines archival footage, exclusive interviews with designers, enthusiasts and fans worldwide. As the Vespa’s popularity grew with clever marketing, it became the ultimate accessory for hip and happening youngsters in the ‘60s and collectors around the world began to take interest.
